How chance works here

Fair play and the dice

Ludo uses a dice. Ours is a computer. This page says what that computer actually does — including the default that is not a perfect 1-in-6.

The dice are a computer

Every roll is a number from a random-number generator on the device (offline) or on the game server (online). There is no physical die. We do not sell a “lucky” roll. We do not show a certificate we do not have.

Default weights — read this

A fair six-sided die is about 17% per face. Ludo Bangla’s default house rules use a 30% chance of a 6; the other faces share the rest. Settings also offer 20%, 40% and 50%, and 17% when you want the die close to fair. After a capture, a “capture boost” can raise the chance of the number that would hit (default 30%, or off). When a player is in the home column, the chance of a 6 drops to 8% so the last squares are not a 6 factory.

Those numbers are in the game engine and in the settings screen. If a room wants a nearer-to-fair die, the host should set 17% and turn capture boost off before anyone joins.

Same board for everyone

Online, the server is the authority for the roll and the legal moves. Clients replay that roll. We do not give one colour a private dice.

Reports

If someone is abusive in a room, use in-game report where it exists, or email [email protected] with the room code. Staff actions on accounts are logged. We do not publish other players’ emails.
